How to: Create texts

Certain things need to be taken into account when writing an text so that the text can be found easily and through the exact search terms that reflect the content well.

To create an text in Serviceware Knowledge, proceed as follows.
  1. Log in to your system as Editor Knowledge.
  2. Decide where the text should be positioned in the tree.
  3. Create a branch in the corresponding location, if not already existing.
  4. Switch to the search function via the Navigation menu. Select via the Add menu Add text.
  5. Edit the text by entering the most important parameters first.
    1. Enter a short Title that provides clear information.
    2. Under Path, select a branch to which you would like to link the text.
    3. In the Categories field, select the language in which you want to write the text.
    4. In the Views field, select the views in which you want your text to be available.
    5. Describe the Content.
    You have now filled in all the mandatory fields and can save the new text.
  6. Edit the content of your text using the text editor.
    1. If you want to make different parts of your text available for different views, insert text elements. Also assign Language, Tags, Files, and Views.
  7. Enter keywords that describe your text well and make it easy to find in the Tags field. The tags are read by the search function. The tags may consist of one or more words.
    Tip: Especially specify tags that you have not used in titles or texts.
  8. To find the text more quickly via a filtered search, add more Categories.
  9. If you want to add more information, attach files.
  10. Edit the write permissions.
  11. Edit the Validity of the text.
    Tip: If the text is supposed to be updated frequently, set a short validity period. You will be notified before the end of validity.
  12. Save the text.
The text is now available under the selected path in the file tree and via search.
